South River 2020

In June 2011, SRWA launched South River 2020, an 8 ½ year initiative to build community efficacy and sustained community involvement in support of South River. SRWA views the DeKalb County consent decree as the catalyst to transform South River and an unprecedented opportunity to mobilize the community around the variety of issues that affect the river’s long-term health. SRWA is guided by three over-arching long-term goals in support of its South River 2020 initiative: 1) Position SRWA as the community’s leading voice in support of South River, 2) Create and sustain through education, outreach, and advocacy a culture of community involvement in support of South River, 3) Develop and cultivate partnerships and programs that will help South River reclaim its designated uses of fishable and swimmable.
